Spinal Cord Injury Referral Process

Spinal Cord Injury Referral Process

Inpatient SCI Referrals

Spinal cord injury patient playing tennis. To refer a spinal cord injury patient to Craig Hospital, please call our admissions department at 303-789-8344. Referrals can be made by patients, families, physicians, case managers, claims adjusters, hospital discharge planners, social workers, and others. We encourage referring physicians to call our CNS Medical Group at 303-789-8220. Medical records will often be required, and the Admissions FAX number is 303-789-8699. Most of Craig inpatient referrals occur very soon following injury, and early referral is recommended.

Spinal Cord Injury Ventilator Patients

The referral process for patients on ventilators is the same as other patients with spinal cord injury, except that we require an on-site clinical consultation prior to clinical approval for admission. Call Admissions at 303-789-8344 to begin the referral and consultation process.

Re-evaluation/Outpatient

For patients new to Craig, call Maggie Rose, RN, 303-789-8344.  For patients who have previously been treated at Craig and want to schedule a Re-evaluation, call Gale Powell at 303-789-8215.  Prior to re-evaluation/outpatient, patients and case managers will be contacted by outpatient/follow-up staff to determine clinical needs.

Rehabilitative Neurosurgery Referral Process

If patients, families, or physicians want to make a referral or want more information about syringomyelia, pain, tethered spinal cord, spasticity, etc., please contact Charlotte Indeck, RN, in the office of Scott Falci, MD, 303-761-5281 or e-mail to cindeck@craighospital.org.
