Admissions Criteria

Craig Hospital Admission Criteria and Populations Served

Craig Hospital treats patients with spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury or related neurological disorders. All referrals have to be approved prior to admission by Craig Hospital and the Craig physicians in the CNS Medical Group, P.C., based on diagnosis, medical condition, rehabilitation goals, funding requirements, and anticipated discharge disposition. All admission decisions are made on a case-by-case basis.

Wheelchair ClassCraig Hospital's programs are designed for adult patients, 16 years of age or older, and only on very rare occasions are there exceptions for younger patients, and exceptions require Medical Director approval.

Craig Hospital does not typically admit patients with brain injury on ventilators. Referral of patients with spinal cord injury on ventilators require an on-site evaluation by a Craig Hospital evaluator before an admission decision is made.

Physician to physician referral to Craig is required on all brain injury referrals. Physician referral of patients with spinal cord injury is highly recommended, but is not mandatory. Previous medical records are typically required to help up make an admission determination. Craig Hospital does not discriminate admissions on the basis of gender, race, religion, national origin, or culture.
