Special Instructions for Computer Users

Special Instructions for Computer Users

We have tried to make this interactive health and risk assessment accessible to all people, including those with spinal cord injuries. This program has been successfully tested with several voice activated products with Internet capabilities.

If you use a typing stick, a mouth stick or some other one-key-at-a-time way of working on the computer, here are some tips for completing the Wellness and Risk Assessment Profile (WRAP). You may want to print this page before you start so that you may refer to it during the process.

If you have the choice, choose Microsoft Internet Explorer as your web browser. Netscape Navigator does not, at this time, provide as many one-key navigation features as Internet Explorer.

Most of the WRAP consists of either:

fill-in-the-blank rectangles where you can use one key at a time to type in your choices, or

radio buttons - small round white circles for you to select from a list of options the one that best describes you.

Here are some pointers for completing the WRAP:

  1. The Page Up and Page Down keys will let you view different parts of the page, from top to bottom. Use these keys to read ahead and see all of the answer options before selecting one.
  2. The Tab key will move to the next navigation option or form entry field. Through repeated use of the Tab key you can move through the entire page. If you want to go back to a previous question, you will need to continue tabbing through the entire page until you get back to the question. As you tab through the page, the item you are on will be highlighted by a dotted-line rectangle.
  3. To select answers for questions with radio buttons, use the Tab key to move to the question as described above. Then use the Left and Right Arrow keys on your keyboard to select the desired option. If you want to select the first option use the Left Arrow key; all other choices can be selected by using the Right Arrow key. When you have selected the desired option, use the Tab key to move to the next question.
  4. When you have finished a page of the evaluation, use the Tab key to move to the Continue button or the Return to Menu button at the bottom of the page and then hit the Enter key.
  5. From the WRAP main menu (the sixth page of the assessment), you can use the Tab key to select the section of the profile you wish to complete. When the desired section is highlighted with the dotted-line rectangle, use the Enter key to go to that page.

We hope this helps you utilize this program. If you still have trouble using the WRAP, please let us know by contacting us at HealthResources@craighospital.org.
